Alison Pincus of One Kings Lane visits Fast Forward for a conversation on startup life

Alison Pincus is forever curious about new ideas, concepts, and change. For the past seven years, she has been able to funnel this passion by being part of a great organization: One Kings Lane, an innovative home goods e-commerce company. Ali visited the accelerator to have a conversation with Fast Forward co-founder Kevin Barenblat, and talked about taking leaps of faith, overcoming tough challenges, and finding motivation. Here are a few gems:

  • She loves “Generation Why Not” and encourages potential entrepreneurs to jump in the deep end when challenging a business or social problem.
  • She gets motivation from books she reads and people she meets. “I want to do everything but there’s only 24 hours in the day.”
  • Top advice:
    • 1) Fail fast. If you make a decision that isn’t going well, shut it down and move on.
    • 2) You don’t want to have one mentor to turn to, you want to have many. Seek them out.
