Senior Marketing Manager

The Mission of the Role

The mission of the Senior Marketing Manager is to ensure a best-in-class content discovery experience for volunteers, donors, and interested parties that will inspire people to work with local nonprofits that are making immense local and global impact. Additionally, this role will create content to inspire, teach and help Nonprofits to better reach donors and volunteers and inspire them to give.

As the Senior Marketing Manager, you’ll be the voice of GreatNonprofits’ (http://www.greatnonprofits.org).  Our ideal candidate is an experienced communications and writing professional with experience in journalism, social media and content marketing. This position reports to the VP of Marketing


  • Develop, write and test creative copy to spark generosity and raise awareness about nonprofit causes.

  • Write crisp copy and create compelling visual content for our social media channels – twitter, Facebook and Instagram, as well as email newsletters, and website

  • Monitoring and tracking success of content and channels against benchmarks

  • Stay current on SEO best practices and their application, and help develop unique content targeted at capturing new visitor interest, improving organic visibility, and driving donations and stories

  • Apply standards and styles consistently. Contribute to style guide and best practice documentation

  • Help source and manage other freelance, volunteer and intern resources that create content


  • Minimum of 2+ years experience in writing for email newsletters, blogs, websites and social media

  • Experience in creating social media visuals in Photoshop or Canva

  • Familiarity with video editing and video shooting

  • A relentless passion for delivering extraordinary content

  • An eagle eye and a laser focus for attention to detail

  • Experience project managing large content projects

  • Deep understanding of SEO dynamics as it relates to engaging content

  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills

  • Creative and passionate about helping nonprofits

  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, high growth environment and work collaboratively

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, sociology, or journalism

  • Portfolio of writing samples – email newsletters, blogs, social media posts, brochures, and website copy.
