Financial Controller

Are you ready to make a difference? MIND Research Institute, the creator of ST Math© is looking for a savvy Financial Controller. Join us in our mission to ensure that all students are mathematically equipped to solve the world’s most challenging problems! As our Controller, you will undertake critical aspects of our financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.


  • Manage all accounting operations including Payroll, Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are executed and documented in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Oversee maintenance of organization’s corporate fiscal records
  • Coordinate the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
  • Supervise month-end and year-end close process
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and the annual audit
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management assisting executives in defining organizational goals and strategic plans
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Function as the board secretary at all board meetings and be responsible for recording and distributing meeting minutes


  • 10+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience, including 5+ years of experience as controller
  • 3-5 years of management responsibility
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Impressive Excel skills
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to be a collaborative team member, display initiative, and have a positive attitude

  • Experience in non-profit accounting
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA or CMA preferred
  • NetSuite ERP experience preferred
