Road accidents and injuries are one of the leading causes of death worldwide, resulting in over 6M deaths a year. Time is one of the most crucial factors that affect survivability, and as a result, over 5.8M (92%) of these deaths occur in places without access to rapid emergency medical services. CriticaLink aims to save the lives of critically ill and injured patients by using location-based mobile technology to alert trained community First Responders when someone nearby needs urgent assistance. The CriticaLink technology platform is widely adaptable; it functions with both smartphones and feature phones and can be used to create a rapid-response system that functions independently or in conjunction with existing government/private services.
