MindRight is a 501c3 nonprofit with the mission of helping youth of color heal from trauma from systemic oppression. One in four inner-city youth witness a murder by 17, yet with only one counselor to every 500 students in the average urban school district, most students' mental health needs are going unmet. That's why we're reaching kids where they are. We provide mental health coaching over text message to youth impacted by urban poverty, violence, and discrimination. We train volunteers to serve as coaches. Our service is proactive - we check in with youth daily, reaching them on their good days and bad days. Through regular text coaching sessions, we help youth build positive coping skills and positive self-identity. Our vision is to use technology to create spaces for systemic healing in historically marginalized communities of color.
