Transparency Toolkit builds free software to help investigative journalists, researchers, and human rights lawyers collect, search, and understand large sets of documents. Our tools work with most sets of documents, but we primarily focus on open source intelligence using non-obvious public data sources like job listings, resumes, social media, contracts, and other data openly available online. Our data and software has been used to map companies helping with NSA surveillance, uncover new surveillance-related codewords, and identify people creating extrajudicial kill lists. We also create and maintain searchable archives of other important sets of documents, like the published Snowden documents and documents about the intrusion software industry.
