Open mHealth is breaking down the barriers to integration and making mobile health data clinically useful. We begin by designing a set of schemas which are clinically valid with engineers and clinical data scientists, to understand where the clinical needs are and design a data format that takes into consideration the data and sensory capabilities of the tools themselves. These schemas are open source, include metadata and reference existing clinical ontologies (ex. Snowmed and RxNorm). We build tools, supported by simple, RESTful APIs, to handle ingestion, storage, processing and visualization of mobile health data. These tools and schemas are used by engineers and clinical researchers at health plans, hospitals, big pharma, and tech companies around the globe.
