Puente was founded in 2018 by former Peace Corps Volunteers in the Dominican Republic who saw firsthand that community development is still disorganized and inefficient in most international communities. A lack of reliable, community-level data makes it exceedingly difficult for NGOs and other local decision-makers to allocate aid and development resources efficiently. Puente's mobile data collection toolkit makes it easy for NGOs and local volunteers to map the needs and resources of their focus communities, allowing them to make smarter decisions on who to help and what to offer. Four partner organizations currently use Puente's data to maximize their impact by finding and monitoring medical patients, identifying families in need of clean water filters and bathrooms, and more.
