Volunteering culture and civic engagement are traditionally low in societies in transition. TimeHeroes was founded with the idea to be the Kickstarter for social good, where people pledge time, instead of money, and support worthy causes. We launched the prototype in Bulgaria (the country with lowest level of volunteer participation in the EU) - a platform which matches organizations with volunteers, and pools information about all volunteering initiatives in the country. With over 25,000 registered volunteers, TimeHeroes is currently the main, and often sole, source for volunteers for local NGOs. We are excited by our vision to scale the platform internationally, by launching it in various countries; with local content, in the local language.
